Drawing this young man looking over the top of Jesus' head seemed like a weird choice, even as I was doing it. But when you're not used to love, it's hard to accept. Sometimes it's just hard to look Jesus in the face when shame won't leave you alone, or love feels foreign. He doesn't mind. He washes your feet anyway, whether you look at him or not. His love is so faithful like that. Never dependant on us. When you're ready though, His eyes are so kind. That gaze brings healing, that gaze teaches love, that gaze reminds you of who you are.
